Post #6: Burnout & Writing! Why I’m Taking a Break & Focusing on Marketing Instead!

Hey, romance lovers!

I’ll be honest, I haven’t been writing much lately. And not because I don’t love writing, but because I hit something every creative dreads: burnout.

If you’re a writer, artist, or even just someone juggling a busy life, you probably know the feeling. Burnout isn’t just exhaustion, it’s like your creativity packs up and leaves the building.

What Burnout Feels Like:

Staring at a blank page for hours with zero inspiration.

I love writing, but dreading sitting down to do it.

Brain fog that made every word feel forced and lifeless.

Extreme exhaustion, even when I wasn’t doing much.

It’s frustrating because I know I have stories inside me, but I just can’t get them out. And forcing it only made things worse.

So, instead of fighting against burnout, I decided to pause writing and shift my focus to marketing, because, let’s be real, books don’t sell themselves.

What I Did Instead of Writing:

✔ Worked on marketing strategies – updating my website, optimizing my book pages, and revamping my social media.

✔ Promoted my current books – making sure they got the attention they deserve.

✔ Took time to recharge – reading, relaxing, and letting my creativity find its way back naturally.

And guess what? It’s working. I’m slowly feeling that spark again, and I know that when I get back to writing, it’ll be with renewed passion.

My Tips for Dealing with Burnout:

Permit yourself to rest – You are NOT a machine. Breaks are necessary.

Switch gears – If writing feels impossible, focus on something else (like marketing, reading, or even a new hobby).

Reconnect with why you love storytelling – Watch a movie, read a favorite book, or journal about your ideas without pressure.

Set small goals – Even writing 100 words a day can help ease you back into the flow.
